DETROIT NEWS - Workers at Chrysler LLC's Newark, Del., assembly plant were offered early retirement and buyout packages this week, spokeswoman Michele Tinson said. About 1,600 United Auto Workers members work at the plant. With these offers, all UAW-represented Chrysler factory workers have been offered deals. Some non-manufacturing employees, including those at Mopar parts distribution centers, have yet to receive offers. The early-retirement plan gives workers $70,000 and full retiree health care and pension benefits. The buyouts pay workers $100,000 to walk away from the automaker.
