WINDSOR, ON, Sept. 4 /CNW/ - Chrysler Canada sales increased 1.2 per cent
in August 2007 marking the company's 13th straight month of sales increases.
Total sales for the month, powered by the highest retail sales of the year,
were 20,503 units, compared to 20,252 units in 2006. On a year to date basis,
the company has sold 162,862 vehicles versus 153,553 last year for a 6.1 per
cent increase.
"Our new lineup of fuel efficient SUVs and cars is tailor made for the
economic and consumer climate in Canada," said Dave Buckingham, Vice President
- Sales for Chrysler Canada. "With all-new minivans coming into the showroom
this month, Chrysler looks to have its best Canadian lineup ever."
Coming to Chrysler, Jeep(R) and Dodge showrooms this Fall will be the
all-new 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan, Chrysler Town & Country, Jeep Liberty and
Dodge Caliber SRT4. These new vehicles are in addition to other new vehicles
introduced this year, including the fuel-efficient Chrysler Sebring, Dodge
Avenger and Jeep Patriot.
Sales Highlights
Total Jeep brand vehicle sales increased 47 per cent for a new August
monthly high, driven by strong performance of Grand Cherokee, Compass, Patriot
and the new Wrangler. Significant incremental sales volume in August was also
derived from the Chrysler Sebring/Sebring Convertible (1,029 units), Dodge
Avenger (541 units) and Dodge Nitro (799 units).
For the year, the fuel efficient Dodge Caliber compact car is up 13.6 per
cent, while Dodge pickup trucks continue to be popular with Dodge Ram and
Dodge Dakota up 6.7 and 6.8 per cent respectively.
