MARYSVILLE, Mich. -- Frank Ewasyshyn, the Chrysler group's executive vice president of manufacturing, said today that it's good for Chrysler to be an American company again, "standing on its own two feet."

At the groundbreaking for a $700 million axle plant here, Ewasyshyn said Chrysler has good people ready to show what they can do.

"You really get a chance to break out in the marketplace; the people who have been with this company have always been a strong group of folk," Ewasyshyn said. "There's a spirit in this building where the people seem to always rise to the challenges."

Ewasyshyn said it was good to see Chrysler's name alone on a banner that was the backdrop for the groundbreaking.
