Chrysler-Jeep dealer council chairman sees positives in merger
The chairman of the Chrysler-Jeep National Dealer Council says he thinks a Chrysler-General Motors merger could help the companies, as long as it didn't involve a merger in the dealership franchise structures. Jim Arrigo, of the two Arrigo Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep stores in Florida, said he thinks a GM-Chrysler combination would aid the automakers if it allowed them to consolidate production or health care costs. Jim Arrigo needs to concentrate on his own job. Chrysler has already been weakened enough by Diamler, now that Cerberus has us on teh way back up; teh last thing we need is to try and carry GM as well. Personally, I am anti-GM in the first place as are many Chrysler buyers; I would sooner just ship after 25 years and go to Fords before I could believe in a product tied in with GM. Leave GM to fend for themselves, they are not our responsibility to rescue; and we will be stronger witout them.
