Published: Tuesday, August 19, 2008Chrysler LLC named Ralph Gilles as design chief, succeeding Trevor Creed, who is retiring from the third-largest U.S. automaker.
The 38-year-old Gilles, lead designer on the new Dodge Ram pickup, will become vice president of design on Sept. 1, the Auburn Hills, Mich.-based automaker said in a statement.
Gilles, who also headed the design effort on the Chrysler 300 that debuted in 2004, takes over as Chrysler works to stem losses and shift its lineup toward more fuel-efficient vehicles.
