Aptera Hybrid Gears Up for Production

While the spotlight has been on Fisker and Tesla and their legal issues, a small company out of California has been working hard to get ahead. Aptera and their Typ-1e are set for release towards the end of the year, the best part being a $30,000 price tag.

Neil Hannemann will be taking over as senior vice president of program management and manufacturing. Mr. Hannemann has been at the head of some of the most impressive vehicle programs over the past 30 years. One of the more recent being the Ford GT. He was also in charge of Dodge's Viper and Chrysler's NASCAR programs. After such projects, he decided to move into a younger territory and began work with Aptera.

The all electric Typ-1e will be the first on the market and has a 120 mile range per charge. It's counterpart, the Typ-1h will use a Hybrid drive train and initial estimates place it at 300mpg. Aptera is also working on a 4-wheel chassis design that should be able to hold 5 people comfortably.
