RAPID CITY — Marvin Heesacker of Spearfish won a 2008 Dodge quad-cab truck at the Living-Large team roping event at Empty Acres Arena at Buckeye, Ariz., on Jan. 5.Among 736 team ropers, he placed two times in the top 5 and was able to accumulate enough points to create a tie for high-point roper.
A rope-off on three head of steers was designated as the tie breaker for the grand-prize.
Heesacker went on to dominate the rope-off with the assistance of his cousin, Ryan Routier, as his header. Heesacker was then awarded the truck, cash and other prizes.
