Southfield (WWJ) -- Celebrations today in Windsor as Chrysler officially launches its new 2008 Chrysler and Dodge minivans.
WWJ's Jeff Gilbert reports the Chrysler Town and Country and the Dodge Grand Caravan minivans make up 18 percent of Chrysler's worldwide sales.
Chrylser sales and marketing chief Steve Landry says they believe the market for minivans could grow in coming years.
"If you look at the population demographics over the next seven years what you are gonna see is kids of boomers having kids of their own," Landry told WWJ's Jeff Gilbert.
Even though the ceremony is today at the Windsor Assembly Plant, workers have been making the new minivans in Windsor for several weeks.
The new minivans go on sale next month.
Chrysler's big rivals, Ford and GM, are out of the minivan market.
